About this role
## Responsibilities - Administer, patch, and maintain Microsoft Windows Server environments (2016, 2019, and newer) within an AWS-hosted Federal cloud infrastructure - Configure, manage, and optimize Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) web servers (application pools, bindings, SSL/TLS certificates, and site-level configurations) - Apply security hardening aligned with DISA STIGs, NIST SP 800-53 controls, and agency-specific security policies - Monitor Windows Server and IIS health, performance, and availability using enterprise observability tools (e.g., DataDog); triage and resolve incidents per defined SLA tiers - Coordinate with DevOps on Windows-related infrastructure activities (CI/CD integration, IaC support, automated deployment workflows) - Support FISMA compliance (vulnerability management, IAVA remediation, and security documentation/audit artifacts) - Respond to critical infrastructure incidents within established SLA windows (e.g., 12-hour acknowledgment for Critical/High); participate in on-call rotation as needed - Maintain runbooks, SOPs, and system documentation to support knowledge transfer and operational continuity - Coordinate planned maintenance windows and communicate impacts/scheduling with program leadership and Government stakeholders - Support onboarding and environment preparation to maintain Day 1 operational readiness ## Qualifications **Basic Qualifications** - Bachelor’s degree + 10 years experience, or Master’s degree + 8 years, or Associate’s degree + 12 years, or High school diploma/equivalent + 14 years - 5+ years hands-on experience administering Microsoft Windows Server (2016, 2019+) - 3+ years managing Microsoft IIS web servers (application pools, site configuration, SSL/TLS administration, performance tuning) - Demonstrated experience applying security configurations and STIGs in Federal or regulated environments - Familiarity with NIST SP 800-53 and FISMA compliance requirements - Experience with enterprise monitoring tools (e.g., DataDog, SolarWinds, Splunk, or equivalent) - Working knowledge of AWS services relevant to Windows workloads (e.g., EC2, Systems Manager, S3, CloudWatch) - Proficiency with PowerShell scripting - Strong written and verbal communication skills **Preferred Qualifications** - Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator (strongly preferred) - Experience in Federal civilian agency IT environments (DOI/USGS or similar) - Familiarity with IaC tools (Terraform, AWS CloudFormation) - Experience integrating Windows patching/compliance into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., AWS CodePipeline, GitHub Actions) - Knowledge of AWS Managed Services and hybrid cloud architectures - Exposure to Agile environments (Jira, sprint-based workflows) - AWS Certified Security – Specialty, CompTIA Security+, CompTIA Server+, or equivalent - Prior ATO/C&A package support or contribution - Familiarity with Section 508 accessibility requirements for IIS-served web content ## Role Details - **Title:** Cloud Windows Server / IIS System Administrator - **Location:** Remote - **Target Salary Range:** $104,000 - $166,000 (final offer depends on experience, education, location, and contract/business factors) ## Company Overview Peraton is a next-generation national security company delivering trusted solutions and transformative enterprise IT for government missions across domains.
