**Waymo — 2027 Summer Intern (PhD) | Quantitative Software Engineer** Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company on a mission to be the world’s most trusted driver. Since starting as the Google Self-Driving Car Project in 2009, Waymo has focused on building the Waymo Driver to improve access to mobility while saving thousands of lives lost to traffic crashes. Software Engineering builds the brains of Waymo’s fully autonomous driving technology—helping the Waymo Driver perceive the world, make the right decisions, and deliver people safely to their destinations. **You will:** - Conduct exploratory research and statistical evaluation of new theories - Periodically present your work to small focus groups - Design and implement software **You have:** - You are currently enrolled in a PhD program in Computer Science (or a related technical field) - Fluency in Python - Knowledge and comfort with statistical concepts - Basic knowledge of machine learning **We prefer:** - Software engineering experience in Python - Effective verbal and written communication skills **Note:** This is a hybrid onsite internship.
