Full Stack Data Engineer - Internal Flight Data Applications
Pivotal · Palo Alto, CA
About this role
## About Pivotal Pivotal is a leader in the emerging market of electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft. We design, develop, and manufacture light eVTOL aircraft—renowned for the **BlackFly**, the world’s first light eVTOL to fly manned missions and enter the consumer market. Our efficient, compact, and simple aircraft are built for a wide range of consumer, public service, and defense applications. With a distinctive tilt-aircraft architecture and a scalable platform, we’ve been flying for over 10 years. We’re also progressing our next-generation aircraft, **Helix**, toward general release and scalable production in **2026**. ## About the Job Flight data from across our aircraft fleet feeds a central data platform that engineering teams rely on to understand aircraft performance. Pivotal is seeking a **Full Stack Data Engineer** to build internal applications that put that data directly into engineers’ hands—so teams across the company can explore it and answer their own questions. ### What You’ll Do You’ll work across the full stack, including: - **Backend services** over the data platform - **Web front ends** for exploring large datasets - **Dashboards** - **AI-assisted tooling** to help engineers interpret what they’re seeing - **Packaging** that brings analysis tools onto an engineer’s laptop ### How You’ll Work Your users sit down the hall, and requirements come through conversations with people who need answers—not just written specifications. This role is as much about **understanding the question** as it is about **shipping the tool**. ### Who This Role Is For This role suits an engineer early in their career who wants: - **Ownership of real products** - **Direct contact** with the people building and flying the aircraft - The opportunity to grow by delivering tools engineers actually use
