**Principal Software Engineer — CRM Product Platform** **Location:** Remote (USA) ## About the Team HubSpot’s Product Platform Engineering org builds the foundational layer that powers how millions of users experience, configure, and get value from the CRM. They own shared infrastructure, APIs, extensibility surfaces, and product foundations used across HubSpot. The org operates as a product-line triad with Product Management and UX—moving quickly from problem discovery through production delivery. This is a formative period: redefining how customers interact with and configure HubSpot as AI changes what’s possible in SaaS. ## About the Role HubSpot is seeking a **Principal Software Engineer** to lead a major CRM product challenge: making HubSpot **deeply and genuinely configurable for every customer**—without sacrificing the reliability and consistency enterprise software requires. This role focuses on productizing deep customization at scale, including building custom workspaces and extensibility foundations, and raising the bar for product-minded engineering across a 100+ engineer org. ## Key Expectations - **Architectural Leadership for CRM Configurability:** Define technical patterns for deep configuration and extension (custom workspaces, no-code/low-code surfaces, and AI-powered personalization at scale). - **Zero-to-One Product Building:** Prototype rapidly, stay current with AI/coding agents, and turn early ideas into production-grade features (not just POCs). - **Hands-On, High-Leverage Contributor:** Ship production code **75%+** of the time; architect by delivering working software. - **Cross-Functional Influence at Scale:** Align across ~120+ engineers plus Product and UX; communicate trade-offs clearly and move the org without steamrolling. - **Technical Mentorship & Multiplier:** Elevate engineers’ full-stack product thinking and AI-enabled development. - **Product & Customer Obsession:** Bring the perspective of CRM customers who need software to flex to their workflows. ## What You Bring - **Full-Stack Product Engineering Depth:** Meaningful impact across backend and product-facing layers; end-to-end ownership. - **AI Shipped to Production:** Delivered AI-powered product features with real user impact—ideally tied to configurability/extensibility/no-code/low-code. - **Product-First Mindset:** Advocate for customer experience in design reviews, even if it requires rethinking technical approaches. - **SaaS Product Background:** Experience building for enterprise customers at scale (not one-off engagements). - **Bias for Working Software:** Prefer prototypes and shipped code over long design docs; thrive in ambiguity. ## Pay & Benefits (Summary) - **Annual Cash Compensation Range:** **$266,200 – $425,900 USD** - Additional compensation may include commission/bonus targets (eligible roles) and potential equity (RSUs), plus possible overtime eligibility. ## About HubSpot HubSpot is an AI-powered customer platform connecting marketing, sales, and service.
