About this role
## Parallel — Member of Technical Staff, Product Security ### About us Parallel is a web infrastructure company. Our products are used by leading businesses in sales, marketing, insurance, and coding to build best-in-class AI agents with flexible and powerful programmatic access to the web. We’ve raised $230M from Kleiner Perkins, Sequoia, Index Ventures, Spark Capital, Khosla Ventures, First Round, and Terrain, and we’re currently valued at $2B. ### The role You will build and operate the security systems that let Parallel ship quickly without creating avoidable risk. You’ll work across: - Application security - Secure defaults - AI-assisted security tooling - The unique attack surface of agentic systems that consume untrusted web content You’ll: - Fix real vulnerabilities when they appear - Improve underlying systems so the same class of issue is harder to introduce again - Help define how security fits into the development process (e.g., reusable patterns for authentication, authorization, data handling, and outbound access) - Design controls for enterprise customers - Ensure security review is part of building software—not a separate end-stage process ### About you You have deep intuition on application security and software architecture—especially how vulnerabilities emerge in real systems. You’re comfortable finding issues yourself, but you care most about eliminating vulnerability classes through better libraries, frameworks, and defaults. You also: - Write production code - Have strong opinions on where current AI models help security vs. where they add noise - Can operate independently, prioritize high-leverage problems, and work directly with engineers and customers ### You might be a good fit if you have - Several years focused on product or application security - Strong web/API security experience (authentication, authorization, SSRF, IDOR, injection, multi-tenant isolation) - Experience building frameworks/libraries/secure defaults that reduced entire classes of vulnerabilities - Experience building security tooling using current AI models (automated code review, threat modeling, triage, agent harnesses, evaluation systems) - Experience securing systems that process untrusted inputs, especially LLM/agentic systems - Ability to be the primary security owner and make clear prioritization decisions - Strong production coding skills in Python, Go, TypeScript, or similar - Experience with GCP, Kubernetes, security research, open source security tooling, or conference talks (plus) ### Life at Parallel - Fully in-person team between our Palo Alto HQ and San Francisco office - Flat, talent-dense organization focused on big technical outcomes **Values** - Own customer impact - Obsess over craft - Accelerate change - Create win-wins - Make high-conviction bets ### Compensation & benefits - Competitive salary - Generous equity - Visa sponsorships - 401K plans - Daily lunch & office snacks - Dinner at the office - Unlimited vacation - Caltrain pass reimbursement
