This posting is designed for a range of experience—your scope may grow from contributing to components and features to leading larger product areas, defining patterns, mentoring engineers, and influencing architecture and engineering standards. **The work** - Build modern, responsive, accessible web and mobile experiences using contemporary JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks and component-based architectures. - Translate product requirements, UX designs, prototypes, and user feedback into production-ready features and reusable components. - Develop and integrate front-end experiences with APIs, services, data sources, and serverless or lightweight back-end capabilities. - Create and maintain design-system components, shared UI patterns, and engineering standards to improve consistency and delivery speed. - Write clean, testable code and participate in code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, debugging, refactoring, and release activities. - Build accessibility (including Section 508), responsive behavior, security, and web performance into the engineering lifecycle. - Use AFS-approved AI-assisted engineering tools and workflows to accelerate development and problem solving—while validating outputs and maintaining quality. - Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Business Application Engineers, Quality Engineers, designers, platform teams, security teams, and client stakeholders. - As you grow: lead complex features, mentor engineers, shape design-system/application patterns, and help teams make sound technical tradeoffs. **Here’s what you need** - Professional experience in front-end, full-stack, web, mobile, or product engineering (or equivalent practical experience). - Hands-on experience with JavaScript or TypeScript and at least one modern framework (React, Angular, Vue, Next.js, or comparable). - Experience with HTML, CSS, responsive design, reusable components, and modern web development practices. - Experience consuming or building REST APIs and integrating user experiences with back-end services/data sources. - Understanding of automated testing, source control, code review, debugging, and Agile delivery practices. - For more experienced candidates: ability to independently lead complex features, mentor others, influence technical patterns, and resolve ambiguity across teams. **Bonus points if you have** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Human-Computer Interaction, or equivalent practical experience. - Experience with design systems, component libraries, accessibility standards (Section 508, WCAG), or accessible testing tools. - Experience with Node.js, Python, Java, serverless technologies, or other back-end development supporting digital experiences. - Experience with AWS, Azure, cloud-native development, containers, or serverless platforms. - Experience with web perfo
