Product-Focused Data Scientist (LLM Products)
Blue Rose Research · Remote or NYC
About this role
**Blue Rose Research — Product-Focused Data Scientist (LLM Products)** Blue Rose Research helps Democrats win elections and advance progressive causes. We work with campaigns in battleground races and major Democratic, progressive, and advocacy organizations to produce research and build the tools they use to decide what to say and where to spend. We’re hiring a **product-focused data scientist** to help build **LLM-powered research and analysis tools** that deliver greater breadth, depth, and speed than ever before. You’ll co-evolve the product experience alongside the models that power it—helping revolutionize how political strategy is developed and communicated to campaigns. **What you’ll do** - Spend time with political strategists to understand how they think and how AI can improve their work. - Translate that work into product decisions: structure workflows that involve humans and agents working together. - Set the bar for rigor on what “good” looks like for an AI system—while staying pragmatic about real deadlines and real user needs. - Design evaluations and **LLM-as-judge** systems to determine whether an LLM-powered feature is accurate, well-grounded, and useful. - Prototype quickly, using coding agents to test ideas before they become product commitments. - Communicate findings and tradeoffs clearly to both technical and nontechnical audiences, including in client-facing settings. **Our ideal candidate likely has** - **5+ years** experience as a data scientist or applied statistician, with significant exposure to shipping features/products (not just producing analyses). - Proficiency in **Python** and **SQL**, plus standard statistical/ML tooling; comfortable working with messy real-world data. - Hands-on experience evaluating or building on top of **LLMs** (e.g., designing eval sets, building LLM-as-judge pipelines, working with embeddings). - Strong product instincts and deep care for how end users interact with the model through the product. - Clear communication in writing and conversation with engineers, product managers, and non-technical stakeholders. - Energy for ambiguous problems—turning “help win elections” into a model, metric, or product decision without a clean playbook. - Motivation by Blue Rose Research’s mission and interest in learning the progressive political ecosystem (prior political or civic-tech experience welcome, not required). **Join us!** - **Remote-first** with an office in **NYC**. - Salary range: **$160,000–$210,000** annually (commensurate with experience). - Benefits: medical, dental, vision, 401k match, and **unlimited PTO**. - Candidates must be authorized to work lawfully in the **United States**.
