We’re looking for an engineering manager who wants to lead strong teams, solve meaningful technical problems, and help shape what we build next. --- ## What You’ll Do - Lead and develop a team of software engineers with coaching, actionable feedback, and support for career growth - Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to translate priorities into clear, achievable plans - Own team execution and delivery: set priorities, break initiatives into manageable work, and maintain a sustainable cadence - Create clarity by resolving ambiguity, removing blockers, managing competing priorities, and reducing unnecessary churn - Maintain strong technical understanding of team systems; guide architecture, design, implementation, and tradeoffs - Maintain a high bar for engineering quality through design discussions, code reviews, testing, operational readiness, and continuous improvement - Lead during production incidents and drive meaningful follow-up afterward - Build an environment of ownership, effective collaboration, and psychological safety for raising concerns and challenging assumptions - Coordinate dependencies and deliver shared initiatives across Product Engineering and company partners - Recruit, interview, and onboard engineers; build an effective onboarding experience - Identify and improve team systems, processes, and ways of working - Model thoughtful use of AI-assisted development tools and help engineers incorporate AI responsibly across the SDLC - Ensure AI-assisted work is validated for correctness, security, maintainability, and alignment with engineering standards - Encourage experimentation with new AI capabilities and share successful approaches across the team --- ## What You Have - BA/BS in Computer Science (or related) or equivalent college-level education - 7+ years of professional software engineering experience - 2+ years leading a team of 3+ software engineers - Experience coaching engineers with direct, constructive feedback and supporting professional development - Ability to translate product/business priorities into technical plans and drive delivery - Strong technical engagement to guide design decisions and evaluate tradeoffs - Strong communication and collaboration skills, including creating clarity when requirements are ambiguous - Track record building healthy, effective engineering teams with high quality and accountability - Experience using AI-assisted development tools and evaluating outputs critically - Sound judgment around data privacy, IP, security, and appropriate use of confidential information with AI tools - Strong technical judgment and foundation in software architecture, design, data structures, and algorithms - Fluency with Java, Go, C++, Python, or similar (primarily Java and Go) - Experience recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding software engineers - Openness to new technologies and creative solutions; comfort in a fast-paced environment --- ## Team Recon You’ll lead **Team Recon**, which owns the customer-facing intelligence layer of Yext’s Competitive Intelligence product area.
