About this role
## Network Engineer ### About the role Cognition is building end-to-end software agents (including Devin). We’re looking for a **Network Engineer** to own the **reliability, security, and evolution** of our **global office networks**. This role is **onsite five days a week** and requires strong wireless + routing expertise, a builder mindset, and the ability to deliver scalable wired, wireless, and cloud-connected network infrastructure with strong observability and automation. ### What you’ll do **Own scalable networks and office delivery** - Design, deploy, and operate high-performance **wired and wireless** networks across offices, branches, and campus environments (RF optimization and resilient architectures). - Deliver office expansions and moves end-to-end (procurement, circuit turn-up, vendor coordination, cutover, and handoff). - Build secure connectivity across offices and cloud infrastructure using **VPC peering, transit networking, IPsec, GRE, or SD-WAN**. - Create repeatable reference architectures, standards, HA patterns, capacity models, inventories, diagrams, runbooks, and deployment playbooks. **Build observable and automated network operations** - Own monitoring and observability across availability, performance, capacity, and employee experience. - Develop scripts and tooling (e.g., **Python, Go, TypeScript**) to turn network data into actionable insight. - Use **infrastructure-as-code, APIs, source control, and CI/CD** to automate network configuration and deployment. - Use **Devin and AI** to improve reliability and build effective troubleshooting/automation runbooks. **Secure access and serve our stakeholders** - Implement secure, identity-aware network access, segmentation, certificate-based authentication, and least-privilege administration. - Partner with Security on firewalls, threat detection/prevention, secure remote access, and incident response. - Troubleshoot systematically across the OSI model using packet analysis and telemetry. - Communicate clearly during incidents and continuously improve based on stakeholder feedback and operational data. ### What we’re looking for - **5+ years** hands-on experience designing, deploying, and operating enterprise/campus networks (or equivalent). - Experience operating networks in a **hypergrowth startup** environment with high ownership. - Bachelor’s degree in CS/IT/network engineering (or equivalent practical experience). - Strong depth in **wireless RF engineering** and **enterprise switching/routing**, including delivery in branch or large office environments. - Solid knowledge of **TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Ethernet, Wi‑Fi**, routing protocols, VPN/zero-trust remote access (e.g., **Cloudflare WARP**), and structured troubleshooting across the OSI model. - Experience designing for **high availability, fault isolation, capacity, and scale**. - Experience with **monitoring, telemetry, alerting, and analytics** to improve reliability and/or customer experience. - Experience automating network operations using modern languages and applying **APIs, IaC, Git, and/or CI/CD**. - Working knowledge of network security/identity controls (e.g., **802.1X, NAC, AAA, RBAC, segmentation, IDS/IPS**). - Ability to coordinate carriers/contractors/vendors while maintaining clear ownership, documentation, and outcomes. - Strong judgment, communication, and service orientation. ### Ideal candidate traits - **Ownership** of reliability and customer experience across team/vendor boundaries
