We build an AI-native platform—**Air Enterprise Readiness**—that aligns development, production, delivery, and sustainment into one coordinated execution system for government agencies and industrial suppliers. **Job Description** Air is seeking an experienced **AI Engineer** to join our **Agentic AI** team as we scale our agentic offerings across all levels of the US government. Over the past year, we’ve seen rapid adoption of our agent, **Ace**. As time goes on, we expect Ace to handle more complex tasks and workflows end-to-end or in cooperation with a human user. The team is focused on making Ace more effective through: - Planning - Reliable execution over longer time horizons - Scaled tool use - Ace Skills - Memory - Inter-agent coordination To succeed in this role, you should be able to demonstrate a project built on LLMs that shows your ability to get them to perform complex tasks. **Key Requirements** - Experience integrating and working with LLMs, with a strong understanding of capabilities and limitations - Experience integrating with agent frameworks such as **Claude Agent SDK** or **OpenAI Agent SDK** - Experience building **observability, evaluation, and feedback loops** for agent behavior (telemetry, prompt evaluation, regression testing, reliability metrics) - Experience working in highly ambiguous environments and operating with urgency - Startup experience, especially scaling products from **zero to one** **Strong Candidates Have** - Experience designing and deploying complex agentic systems using LLMs - Hands-on experience with multi-agent coordination, routing, and tool orchestration - A love of coding agents **Location & Travel** - Full-time role based out of **Pittsburgh, PA** - May require up to **25% travel** **Scope of Responsibilities** - Design and build multi-agent systems with tool use, memory, routing, and planning - Develop Agent Skills and tools as modular, composable services that interact with backend systems, models, and data processing - Own technical architecture and engineering standards for agentic systems to ensure scalability, reliability, and maintainability - Assist with automated evaluation of agents, skills, and prompts across the product lifecycle - Work with Product and Implementation organizations to solve complex problems (details continue in the source description)
