**Senior Software Engineer** **The Basics** As a Tanium Senior Software Engineer, you’ll build and maintain best-of-breed products as part of a small, nimble development team. Tanium emphasizes strong customer engagement and feedback to ensure products are designed the right way from the beginning. When new product ideas are identified, you’ll design, develop, test, and deploy them from the ground up—continuously iterating with product management and customers for feedback. *Hybrid schedule:* This role follows the company’s hybrid schedule, requiring employees to work in the office at one of the following locations a minimum of **three (3) days per week**: **Addison, TX; Bellevue, WA; Durham, NC; Emeryville, CA.** **What you’ll do** - Build and maintain Tanium’s products alongside a highly agile development team - Focus on a strong customer engagement model and feedback process to design the right way from the start - Design, develop, and test new product ideas from the ground up while working with product management for feedback and input **We’re looking for someone with** - **Education** - Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience - CS degree preferred - **Experience** - Must be eligible for U.S. federal contract work; ability to obtain Canadian Reliability status (Protected B) is a plus, but not required - **5+ years** industry experience (**7+ preferred**) - Experience building large cloud-based data services - Knowledge of at least one of: **Golang** (preferred), **C++**, or **Rust** - Experience with **PostgreSQL** - Experience with **API design and development** - Experience with **Azure or AWS Database Services** - Experience with cloud object storage (e.g., **AWS S3** or **Azure Blob Storage**) - Experience designing memory-efficient streaming and multipart data-transfer systems - Experience with **Infrastructure as Code** (Terraform, Pulumi) and **container orchestration** (Kubernetes) - Experience with modern software engineering development and automation tools (git, CI/CD pipelines) - **Other** - Excellent judgment balancing rapid development with long-term code maintainability and supportability - Belief in automated tests as part of development - Experienced debugger who can resolve production issues quickly and address root causes
