As a **Mobile Engineer on the Mobile Foundations team**, you’ll create and maintain foundational systems that all Lyft iOS engineers rely on. Your work enables teams across Lyft to deliver rich experiences, build scalable infrastructure, and improve the mobile developer experience—creating a multiplicative impact on Engineering and Lyft’s overall stability. Lyft apps are used by millions of people, and we take pride in excellent development practices, careful code architecture, and an organization built around rapid releases. The codebase is written entirely in **Swift**, using modern design patterns and coding standards. We rely on third-party libraries and actively contribute back to the community. --- ## Who you are - Enthusiastic, experienced mobile developer who wants to improve developers’ ability to ship quickly - Excited by new Swift features and compile improvements - Enjoys building foundations/frameworks that accelerate others by hiding system complexity - Diplomatic collaborator who aligns engineers across teams around common patterns - Motivated by scaling millions of lines of Swift code to hundreds of developers - Proactive: identifies and improves processes and solves problems - Takes pride in clean, maintainable, scalable code and well-designed APIs - Passionate about collaborating with other teams and supporting iOS engineers --- ## Responsibilities - Develop and maintain reliable mobile infrastructure (networking, architecture, and UI frameworks), including **Lyft Product Language** and a **DeclarativeUI library**, to enable high-quality iOS experiences - Collaborate with designers, Android engineers, Web engineers, and other Mobile Infrastructure teams to define the future of mobile UI and architecture - Support iOS engineers across the organization as they use the tools you build, using feedback to improve roadmaps and offerings - Bring ideas to reduce developer friction and keep the codebase joyful to develop in; continuously improve via refactoring - Stay current with iOS development and contribute to open-source projects such as **Mobile Native Foundation** and **Hammer** --- ## Experience - Experienced delivering high-quality code - Experience working with designers and/or internal developer productivity teams/projects - Strong experience with **Swift** - Experience with **UIKit**, declarative UI development, and creating shared components - Familiarity with design/prototyping tools (e.g., **Figma**) - Ability to work in a low-ego, highly collaborative, cross-functional team - Excited by fast-paced, dynamic environments - Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for difficult challenges - Ownership mindset and commitment to continuous improvement - Excellent presentation and documentation skills - Experience mentoring and supporting other Mobile Engineers - Demonstrated ability to lead a project from concept through completion - **Bonus:** open-source contributions, **SwiftUI**, unidirectional and reactive programming --- ## Benefits - Great medical, dental, and vision insurance options (plus additional programs when enrolled) - Mental health benefits - Family building benefits - Child care and pet benefits - 401(k) plan - 12 observed ho
