Your code will directly impact customers immediately by building ML services that leverage large proprietary medical and clinical datasets (structured documents, natural language, and images). **Location / Work Model** - Office: **South San Francisco** - Remote supported across teams, with a strong Bay Area presence - Local R&D teams meet in-office **every Wednesday** (expected for this role) --- **What You’ll Do** - Develop state-of-the-art ML solutions for large-scale healthcare problems - Own ML services end-to-end: problem discovery, data pipelines, inference optimization, experimentation, and deployment - Build data pipelines that collect, preprocess, and deliver measurable data quality - Write production-ready, well-tested, efficient software - Develop ML algorithms across **LLMs, probabilistic inference, and computer vision** for tasks like: - medical document entity extraction - medical coding - claim outcome prediction - Build novel, application-specific ML models --- **Skills & Qualifications** - **Master’s** in Computer Science (or similar) - **5+ years** experience in machine learning and data engineering - Experience launching production ML systems from the ground up - Experience with **Large Language Models** (open-source deployments and agentic workflows); ideal: training or fine-tuning LLMs - Proficiency in **Python** and/or **C++** - Cloud/platform development experience such as **Spark, AWS, and Kubernetes (k8s)** - Knowledge of ML frameworks such as **scikit-learn, PyTorch, and TensorFlow** --- **Compensation & Benefits** **Salary Range:** **$175,000–$230,000 + Equity** (final offer depends on location, experience, and other factors) **Benefits include:** - Flexible paid time off (PTO) - Health, dental, and vision coverage - Employer contribution to **HSA** - Generous parental leave - Life insurance (full employee coverage) - Home office stipend - Cell phone/internet reimbursement - Company-paid holidays - **401(K)** plan --- **Equal Opportunity** AKASA is an equal opportunity employer and committed to diversity and inclusion.
