We’re self-funded and have reached over 100 million downloads worldwide. ## The Role As a **Database Administrator (DBA)** at Air Apps, you’ll manage, optimize, and secure large-scale, complex databases that power our AI-driven platform. You’ll partner with engineering teams to design, implement, and maintain high-performance, scalable, and resilient database systems. You’ll be responsible for database tuning, backup and recovery strategies, monitoring, and ensuring data integrity across structured and unstructured data sources. ## Responsibilities - Design, implement, and maintain high-performance database systems for large-scale applications - Optimize database queries, indexing strategies, and partitioning for performance - Monitor database health to ensure high availability, scalability, and disaster recovery - Manage and fine-tune **SQL and NoSQL** databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, DynamoDB) - Implement database security policies, encryption, and access control to protect sensitive data - Automate database backups, replication, and failover mechanisms - Collaborate with developers on query optimization, schema design, and data modeling - Perform capacity planning and monitor database growth trends - Ensure compliance with data governance, **GDPR**, and other regulatory requirements - Stay current with the latest database technologies, trends, and best practices ## Requirements - **4+ years** of experience as a Database Administrator (DBA) or similar role - Expertise in relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server) and/or NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis, Cassandra, DynamoDB) - Strong knowledge of database optimization, indexing, partitioning, and replication - Experience with performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting slow queries - Familiarity with backup, recovery, failover, and disaster recovery strategies - Experience with cloud database services (AWS RDS, Aurora, Google Cloud Spanner, Azure SQL) - Knowledge of scripting for automation (Python, Bash, SQL scripts) - Understanding of data security best practices, encryption, and compliance requirements - Experience working with large, complex datasets and high-traffic applications - Ability to work with DevOps teams to integrate databases into CI/CD workflows ## What Benefits Are We Offering? - Apple hardware ecosystem for work - Annual Bonus - Medical Insurance (including vision & dental) - Disability insurance (short and long-term) - 401k up to 4% contribution - Air Conference (meet the team, collaborate, and grow) - Transportation budget - Free meals at the hub - Gym membership ## Diversity & Inclusion Air Apps is committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace.
