Waymo’s fully autonomous ride-hail service is powered by the Waymo Driver, which has provided over ten million rider-only trips and driven over 100 million miles on public roads. **Software Engineering** builds the brains of Waymo’s autonomous driving technology—enabling the system to perceive the world, make decisions, and deliver people safely to their destinations. **You will:** - Work on backend infrastructure stability and reliability - Feature work in applications such as Event Response or vehicle maintenance tracking - Optimize the robotaxi marketplace to balance supply and demand - Design and develop backend and infrastructure that supports ride hailing businesses and AV fleet management - Design and build ML and optimization models for predicting vehicle routing, future demand, passenger destination suggestions, vehicle dispatch optimization, and ETA prediction **You have:** - Progressing towards BS or MS in Computer Science or a related technical field - Interest in infrastructure work (internal tools, frameworks, and libraries) - Interest in scaling commercial operations - Excellent communication skills (technical and non-technical) - Excitement about working on self-driving cars **We prefer:** - Experience in distributed systems and backend development - Experience programming in C++ and/or writing robust, efficient code **Note:** This will be a hybrid onsite internship position.
