As **Manager II, IT Engineering and DevOps**, you’ll lead the engineering team behind internal integrations, automation, and AI-native workflows powering Core IT. You’ll support other functions (including service organization, identity, and more) by building automation that eliminates manual toil, improves productivity, and creates seamless experiences for Samsara employees. This role is eligible for remote work. The team spans **US and India time zones**, so meaningful daily overlap with India working hours is required. **In this role, you will** - Own integrations, automation, and AI-native workflows across Core IT (orchestration tooling, agentic workflows, and system connections that remove manual work company-wide) - Build and maintain automation that serves other internal functions (service organization, identity, and others), unlocking capacity for technical teams - Evaluate and adopt new automation and AI tooling as it matures—forming a point of view on where it belongs in the organization’s systems - Manage a team of engineers in the US and India, growing capabilities as the mandate expands - Set technical direction and a shared roadmap across multiple reporting lines, unifying under a single engineering strategy with clear metrics (capacity, throughput, velocity) - Build the working rhythm for a globally distributed team (overlap hours, handoffs, shared delivery across US/India) - Partner with ServiceOps and Business Operations leadership to retire manual work through automation and self-service - Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and the automation team—surfacing use cases, translating operational needs into technical requirements, and prioritizing what to automate next - Champion and embed Samsara’s cultural principles as we scale globally **Minimum requirements** - 8+ years in software engineering, DevOps, or automation engineering, including 3+ years directly managing engineers - Experience managing globally distributed engineering teams across multiple time zones (including India) - Hands-on experience with workflow automation/orchestration tooling (e.g., Selenium, Workato) and building integrations across enterprise systems - Track record of setting technical direction and a shared roadmap (not just operating an existing one) - Proficient in **Python/JavaScript** (able to read/review PRs, evaluate architecture decisions, and guide developers on CI/CD, TDD, and GitHub best practices) **An ideal candidate has** - Experience evaluating or deploying AI-driven/agentic automation tools in production - Experience building integrations/automation that serve other teams’ platforms and workflows (not only owning a single platform end-to-end) - Experience with ITSM and ticketing platforms (e.g., Zendesk, Jira) and automation that reduces manual ticket handling - Experience building automations/integrations/proactive monitoring for SaaS and identity tooling (e.g., Okta, Google Workspace, Atlassian, Slack) - Experience with corporate security and compliance programs relevant to automation/integration work (e.g., SOX, FedRAMP, GDPR, CCPA) **Annual Base S
