**Staff Software Engineer — Wallets, Liquidity & Bridging (Coinbase)** Ready to do the most impactful work of your career? Coinbase is remote-first (but not remote-only) and brings teams together quarterly for in-person “surges.” Coinbase is hiring a **Staff Software Engineer** to join the **Wallets, Liquidity & Bridging** team within the **Platform** organization. This team builds and operates wallet systems, liquidity orchestration, and bridging infrastructure that power how Coinbase moves crypto assets across **55+ blockchain protocols** for millions of users. You’ll own the architecture and technical direction of these systems—constructing, signing, broadcasting, and reconciling on-chain transactions with the **speed, reliability, and security** customers expect. --- ## What you’ll do - Own the **technical strategy, architecture, and roadmap** for Coinbase’s wallet, liquidity, and bridging systems. - Build and evolve **distributed backend systems (Go)** for liquidity orchestration, cross-chain bridging, and transaction lifecycle management across custodial and non-custodial flows. - Improve service-oriented architecture by decomposing legacy systems into **modular, reusable platform services**. - Partner with **Trading, Custody, Staking**, and cross-platform engineering teams to define integration contracts and align with company-wide architectural standards. - Lead **reliability and operational excellence** for wallet services (observability, incident response, and systemic improvements). - Shape engineering standards and culture through **design reviews, architectural RFCs, and mentoring**. --- ## Required skills & experience - **8+ years** in software engineering with deep expertise in **Go** and large-scale distributed systems. - Proven track record architecting and operating production backend services with **high-throughput** and strict **correctness/reliability** requirements. - Hands-on blockchain experience (e.g., transaction construction, signing, broadcasting, key management, or cross-chain bridging across protocols like **Ethereum, Bitcoin, or Solana**). - Experience decomposing monolithic systems into **microservices/platform primitives** used by multiple teams. - Ability to influence technical direction across teams without direct authority (driving decisions, leading initiatives, representing your area in org forums). - Uses **generative AI responsibly**, with human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and measurable improvements. --- ## Compensation - **Annual base salary range (excluding equity/bonus): $218,025 — $256,500 USD** --- ## Notes - **Job #: P78322** - **Application limit:** maximum of **3 applications within a 6-month period**. - Coinbase is an **Equal Opportunity Employer**. - **Accommodations:** email **accommodations[at]coinbase.com** for reasonable accommodations.
