About this role

**Senior Software Engineer — UI (Seattle) | Full Time** **About AIM** AIM is building the autonomous linchpin of civilization—transforming heavy machinery into AI-powered fleets that operate continuously, safely, and at peak performance in the world’s harshest environments. AIM runs production mines, large-scale infrastructure builds, and defense operations as a TRL9 hardened system. **About you** You’re a frontend engineer who thinks about UI the way the rest of the team thinks about autonomy: **correctness, safety, and reliability first**, with an **excellent user experience**. You write clean, simple **TypeScript + React**, and you understand the difference between a UI that *looks* correct and one that is *correct*. You care deeply about: - **Accessibility** (not bolted on) - **Performance** (not measured once) - **Developer experience** for engineers building on your components - **Operator experience** in real-world conditions (sun glare, gloves, unreliable networks) You’re comfortable across the stack when needed—component library APIs, real-time WebSocket telemetry (protobuf), live 3D rendering (Three.js), and access-control UX for multi-tenant SaaS. **What you’ll own** As a **Senior Software Engineer (UI focus)**, you’ll design and build the two web surfaces that put a human in the loop with AIM’s autonomous fleet: 1) **Safety-critical Operator UI** 2) **Multi-tenant administration portal** …and the **shared design system** powering both. --- ### 1) Architect & Build the Design System - Set architectural direction for **component APIs**, **accessibility**, **theming**, **versioning**, **deprecation**, and **migration tooling** - Own the developer experience for engineers building on the design system - Drive patterns that make it easy to ship **high-quality, accessible UI by default** ### 2) Build the Operator UI - Architect and implement the live **3D scene** with **Three.js / React Three Fiber / Drei** - point clouds, terrain meshes (BVH acceleration), geofence editing, cut/fill visualization, machine overlays - Design **state machines (XState)**, validation, and **observability** for safety-critical flows - Build **teleop controls** and integrate **live video streaming** with the rigor these interfaces demand ### 3) Shape the Administration Portal (Real SaaS) - Drive architecture for **multi-tenant authorization**, **internationalization** (including **RTL**), and **real-time data** - Deliver customer-facing experiences that meet best-in-class **B2B** standards ### 4) Deliver High-Quality, Production-Ready Software - Write clean, testable, maintainable **TypeScript** using modern frontend engineering practices - Improve **code quality**, **accessibility**, **performance**, **reliability**, and **observability** - Lead code reviews, design reviews, and architectural discussions ### 5) Own End-to-End Execution - Partner with TPMs, design, autonomy, controls, hardware, and field ops to ensure UI works reliably on real machines and at real customer sites - Work with FDEs to incorporate operational truth back into the codebase (sun glare, gloves, dropped networks) - Drive root-cause analysis and eliminate recurring defects ### 6) Raise the Engineering Bar - Mentor junior and mid-level engineers - Improve **DX**, **CI/CD**, test frameworks (**Vitest, Cypress, Testing Library, vitest-axe, MSW**), and local dev tooling - Help define SWE excellence and engineering mechanisms across the org --- **Basic Qualifications*
