More than 1,400 firms in nearly 60 countries use Addepar to manage and advise on nearly $9 trillion in assets, with an open platform integrating with hundreds of partners. **The Role** Addepar is seeking a visionary, hands-on **Senior Software Engineer** with deep expertise in **Java** and distributed systems to lead technical initiatives within the **Order Management System (OMS)** team in Trading. You’ll help build a high-performance **Trading Order Lifecycle Management** system that bridges investment intent and market execution—serving as the mission-critical link between portfolio managers and executing brokers to ensure trades are executed, allocated, and reported with **precision, low latency, and high fault tolerance**. This role requires working **Eastern working hours**. **What You’ll Do** - **System Architecture:** Drive technical direction and architect highly scalable, resilient **Java/Spring Boot** (or **Quarkus**) microservices. - **Trade Orchestration:** Design next-generation trade order lifecycle logic, ensuring ultra-reliable broker connectivity and accurate allocations. - **Data & Messaging:** Architect enterprise-grade, event-driven systems and scalable data solutions on **AWS** using **Kafka**. - **Integrations:** Scale inbound/outbound connectivity across **FIX, REST, and file-based** interfaces for performant data exchange. - **Engineering Excellence:** Mentor teams and elevate **Agile SDLC** standards. - **Strategic Collaboration:** Partner with product and design leadership to translate complex requirements into actionable, scalable technical roadmaps. **Who You Are** - **Education:** B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science (or similar) or equivalent practical experience. - **Experience:** **8+ years** architecting and building complex backend distributed systems at scale. - **Technical Stack:** Strong **Java**, **Spring Boot**, JVM tuning, and concurrency (**Quarkus** is a plus). - **Cloud & Data:** Advanced **AWS** cloud-native architectures and messaging platforms like **Kafka**. - **Database Knowledge:** Experience with SQL, NoSQL, and data architectures. - **Modern Workflows:** Advocate for developer productivity, automation, and **AI-assisted development** tools. - **Leadership & Ownership:** Technical leader with strong ownership and cross-team initiative drive. - **Communication:** Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and foster a collaborative, experimental culture. - **Preferred:** Experience in **Trading** or **Financial Services**; practical knowledge of the **FIX protocol**; familiarity with frontend technologies (e.g., **React**) to support UI-related backend requirements. **Our Values** - **Act Like an Owner** - **Build Together** - **Champion Our Clients** - **Drive Innovation** - **Embrace Learning** **Compensation / Authorization Notes** - Market-based pay; current range shown for this role: **$126,000–$197,000 + bonus + equity + benefits** (base salary only; location-dependent). - Applicants must be **legally authorized to work in the United States** without requiring current or future vi
