About this role

**Director, AFB Technologies** AccuWeather is seeking an experienced and highly collaborative Director to provide technical leadership for the platforms, applications, services, and data that power AccuWeather for Business (AFB). **RESPONSIBILITIES** • Provide technical and organizational leadership for the AFB web portal, mobile applications, APIs, and AFB-specific data capabilities • Develop a deep understanding of existing AFB systems, integrations, dependencies, data flows, technical debt, and operational processes • Define and execute a technology strategy and modernization roadmap balancing new capabilities, customer commitments, reliability, and security • Partner with Product, Technology, Security, Operations, and business stakeholders to translate needs into scalable technical solutions • Drive adoption of AI-assisted engineering tools and workflows to improve software development and productivity • Identify opportunities to incorporate AI into AFB platforms where it creates meaningful customer value • Modernize applications, services, APIs, and data capabilities using approaches that improve maintainability and scalability • Identify opportunities to create shared services and APIs reusable across AFB and other AccuWeather products • Drive AFB technology toward SOC 2 readiness and compliance • Ensure AFB platforms are reliable, secure, performant, and scalable for enterprise customers • Establish and improve software engineering, testing, API, and delivery practices • Lead, mentor, and develop engineers and technical contributors • Define and monitor meaningful measures of platform health and engineering effectiveness **QUALIFICATIONS** • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline (or equivalent experience) • 10+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, technology leadership, or enterprise applications • 5+ years of experience leading and developing software engineering or technology teams • Demonstrated experience defining technology strategy and leading modernization of existing applications and platforms • Strong technical understanding of modern web applications, mobile applications, APIs, cloud technologies, and distributed systems • Experience supporting business-critical or enterprise-facing technology platforms • Experience with security, compliance, and technology control frameworks; SOC 2 experience strongly preferred • Strong understanding of API design, integration patterns, and data architecture • Experience applying AI-assisted development tools • Ability to evaluate legacy systems and develop pragmatic modernization strategies • Ability to operate effectively across organizational boundaries and lead complex initiatives • Strong critical-thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Self-driven, adaptable, and collaborative **About AccuWeather** AccuWeather is the most accurate and most used source of weather forecasts and warnings in the world.
