**Backend Engineer, Security Platform** **About the Role** Join Vannevar's Security Platform team to build the authentication, authorization, and identity infrastructure powering mission-critical defense software. You'll own backend services, authorization engines, and data models while partnering with product engineers, compliance teams, and mission users to create scalable identity and access management capabilities. **What You'll Do** • Drive implementation and evolution of core platform permission infrastructure • Lead mission-critical projects to build and scale foundational auth capabilities • Partner across the organization to develop standardized security solutions • Collaborate with compliance and stakeholders on access control and data protection standards • Influence architecture and engineering standards company-wide • Solve complex, high-impact problems in security platform systems **What We're Looking For** • 5+ years backend development experience with hands-on identity and access management systems • Strong system design skills with thoughtful performance/reliability/scalability tradeoffs • Experience leading cross-team technical initiatives and driving adoption through influence • Security-first mindset and comfort operating with high discipline in sensitive environments • Clear communication of complex technical concepts to engineers and cross-functional partners • U.S. Person status required (access to U.S.-only data systems) **What We Offer** • Salary: $150,000 - $215,000 + equity • Health, dental, and vision insurance • Remote-friendly with WeWork access • Unlimited PTO and company-wide downtime • 401(k) match, wellness stipends, fully paid parental leave • Salary top-up during military reserve duty **Equal Opportunity Employer** — We encourage applications from all backgrounds.
