**Front End Software Engineer, Media Player** **About the Role** Reddit is seeking a Software Engineer to build the next version of our media web experience. You'll define technical components for delivering video and audio content, focusing on our web media player and supporting APIs. Draw on industry patterns from top streaming platforms to build seamless, low-latency playback experiences. **Key Responsibilities** • Work cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering to execute strategy and build features users love • Contribute to full development cycle: design, development, testing, experimentation, analysis, and launch • Design and implement fullstack solutions—React/TypeScript UI components and Go/Python backend APIs • Balance speed with quality; move fast while preventing critical issues • Review code and design docs; provide feedback on specs and mocks • Collaborate with client and platform engineers to improve media performance globally • Contribute to developer standards, recommend best practices, and mentor junior engineers **Required Qualifications** • BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience • 3+ years software development experience (Go, Python, Rust, Ruby, or similar) • Proficiency in modern web technologies: JavaScript, React, Next.js, TypeScript • Experience translating complex UI/UX designs into scalable applications • Knowledge of GraphQL, REST, HTTP, gRPC, Thrift; ability to design maintainable APIs • Strong organizational and prioritization skills • Excellent communication for remote collaboration with technical and non-technical audiences **Benefits** • Comprehensive healthcare and income replacement programs • 401(k) with employer match • Global lifestyle benefits (workspace, professional development, caregiving support) • Family planning and gender-affirming care • Mental health and coaching benefits • Flexible vacation and paid volunteer time off • Generous paid parental leave **Compensation** Base salary range: $165,000–$229,000 USD (plus equity and potential commission) *Reddit is an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse workforce.*
