Trusted by the U.S. Department of Defense and Fortune 500s, the platform delivers secure messaging, file sharing, workflow automation, and more—with full data and operational control. **The Role** We're seeking a Senior Mobile Engineer to own the Mattermost mobile experience for teams in defense, intelligence, and critical infrastructure. You'll focus on reliability and performance for users in DDIL environments where connectivity may be disconnected, denied, intermittent, or limited. Our mobile app uses React Native and TypeScript with native iOS and Android integrations. You'll work across application and native layers, partner with platform teams, and help shape our next-generation cross-platform mobile architecture. **Key Responsibilities** • Architect the app for DDIL and constrained network environments • Improve reliability across connection lifecycle, synchronization, and recovery • Own crash-free outcomes and release health using telemetry • Profile and improve performance (startup, networking, storage, rendering, memory, battery) • Own critical iOS and Android integrations and native/cross-platform boundaries • Maintain push notifications, background execution, secure storage, and real-time communications • Mentor engineers on mobile architecture and best practices • Uphold security and compliance standards for government and enterprise customers **Required Experience** • Deep expertise in iOS or Android with strong knowledge of the other platform • Strong mobile architecture, platform SDKs, and networking fundamentals • Experience building reliable systems through unreliable connectivity and synchronization • Mobile performance profiling and production debugging on real devices • Using production data and crash metrics to drive improvements • Making architecture recommendations and owning technical outcomes • Ability to work across native and cross-platform codebases • AI fluency and experience with coding agents **Preferred Experience** • React Native and TypeScript • Mobile persistence, synchronization, or offline-capable systems • Real-time communications or platform media frameworks (WebRTC, CallKit) • Enterprise mobile distribution (MDM, AppConfig, Intune MAM) • Mobile software for security-sensitive or operationally constrained environments • Open-source contributions **Why Join** ✓ Mission-driven work supporting critical infrastructure and defense organizations ✓ Remote-first, globally distributed team ✓ AI-forward environment with agentic development as core craft ✓ End-to-end ownership across the full stack ✓ Open source at the core **Compensation & Requirements** Target Salary: $165,000 - $215,000 This role may require obtaining and maintaining a U.S. government security clearance.
