Director, Forward-Deployed AI Solutions
Healthverity · Philadelphia, PA
About this role
**ROLE OVERVIEW** As a forward-deployed AI operator within Real-World Data Solutions (RWDS), you will work at the intersection of people, process, data, and technology to turn messy operational challenges into AI-enabled systems that perform in daily work. You will embed directly with teams doing the work: observing workflows, identifying interventions, building solutions, testing with real users, and improving until delivering measurable value. Sometimes that solution uses AI; sometimes deterministic automation, existing platforms, or process redesign is better. Your job is to make that judgment and own the outcome. This is a senior, hands-on builder role for an operations-minded problem solver—not traditional software engineering. You should be comfortable building with modern AI, automation, analytics, and low-code tools, while partnering with data and engineering teams when needed. **KEY RESPONSIBILITIES** • Discover and document how work actually happens: people, approvals, exceptions, and informal tools • Build and ship AI-enabled tools, workflows, and automations directly with end users • Own tools past demo stage—ensure data logic is sound and tools scale, partnering with engineering to productionize • Use current AI/LLM tooling (agents, RAG, coding assistants) to build faster; know when lightweight tools fit versus engineered solutions • Design human review, exception handling, monitoring, and governance into solutions from the start • Actively gather voice-of-client feedback from analysts and stakeholders • Pilot new tools with real users before scaling team-wide • Communicate technical decisions and tradeoffs clearly to non-technical stakeholders • Take ownership of a defined portion of the AI/tooling roadmap with minimal oversight • Train RWDS and dependent teams on AI tooling and support adoption **REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS** • Ability to understand data structures, trace data through workflows, validate business logic, and collaborate with analysts and engineers • Track record driving projects from ambiguous problem to shipped solution with real adoption, without heavy oversight • Demonstrated experience with LLM-based tools and practical AI integration patterns • Understanding of responsible AI and data governance in regulated industries • Recognize when lightweight solutions fit—and when security, scale, data complexity, or reliability requires engineering partnership • Strong communication skills explaining technical tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders **PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS** • Analytics/data engineering, ETL background, or equivalent depth with large relational databases (SQL, Python, Databricks) • Experience building playbooks, training programs, or enablement materials that scaled adoption • Prior leadership or informal mentorship experience • Experience evaluating/piloting AI platforms and making real build-vs-buy decisions • Exposure to complex analytics workflows in large data environments • Familiarity with healthcare data (claims, EHR, labs, registries) and life sciences work **COMPENSATION & LOCATION** Base salary: $190,000–$240,000 + annual bonus **Hiring Locations:** Philadelphia (hybrid, 3 days/week in-office) or approved hub locations: Boston, NYC, Baltimore, Washington D.C., Charlotte, Raleigh-Durham, Atlanta, Chicago. Remote work supported in: CT, DE, FL, GA, IL, IN, MA, MD, MI, NC, NJ, NY, OH, PA, TN, VA. **ABOUT HEALTHVERITY** HealthVerity is the leader in privacy-protected real-wor
