**Staff Software Engineer, Data Warehouse** **The Community You Will Join:** Data represents the voice of Airbnb's users at scale. The Data Warehouse Infrastructure team is responsible for foundational big data infrastructure used by hundreds of engineers to collect, manage, and analyze data at scale. We use open source technologies like Hadoop, Spark, Trino, Iceberg, and Airflow. **A Typical Day:** • Design and build the next generation big data compute platform for data ETL, analytics, and machine learning • Operate, manage, and improve platform reliability, performance, observability, and cost efficiency • Write maintainable, self-documenting code and perform code reviews • Work on and contribute to open source software with industry impact **Your Expertise:** • BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent work experience) • 10+ years of experience with data infrastructure and big data technologies • Proficiency in Spark, Presto/Trino, Kubernetes • Strong programming skills in Java or Scala • Experience designing, building, and maintaining scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems • Expertise in multi-threading and concurrency programming • Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL database systems • Proven collaboration skills across teams • Ability to troubleshoot complex data infrastructure problems • Strong written and verbal communication skills **Location:** US - Remote Eligible. Must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity. **Pay Range:** $212,000 – $265,000 USD This role may be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
