**Linux Systems & DevOps Engineer** *Remote • Full-time • Mid-level* **About the Role** Nationwide IT Services is seeking a hands-on Linux Systems & DevOps Engineer to support infrastructure and software operations for the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) ShakeAlert earthquake early warning system. This remote position requires U.S. residency and focuses on Linux systems administration and Ansible automation across networking, monitoring, security, scripting, databases, and software operations. **Key Responsibilities** • Install, configure, administer, patch, secure, and troubleshoot Linux systems • Use Ansible to automate system configuration and infrastructure operations • Configure and troubleshoot network infrastructure (switches, routers, firewalls) • Monitor servers, services, and operational health indicators • Develop scripts and automation for administration and troubleshooting • Support relational databases (installation, configuration, SQL queries) • Support Linux security, hardening, and compliance activities • Collaborate with USGS personnel, developers, and technical staff **Required Qualifications** • Hands-on Linux systems administration in production environments • Experience with RHEL, CentOS, Rocky Linux, or comparable enterprise Linux • Hands-on Ansible experience for system configuration and automation • Network infrastructure configuration and troubleshooting experience • Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, routing, switching, and firewalls • Basic scripting experience (Bash, Python, Ruby, or similar) • Practical database experience with SQL and relational databases • Linux security and hardening knowledge • Familiarity with Git/source control • High school diploma or equivalent • Must reside and work within the United States • Must obtain and maintain U.S. Government Public Trust credentials and PIV card **Preferred Experience** • 3+ years in Linux systems administration, infrastructure operations, or DevOps • AWS infrastructure and services • Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios/Icinga monitoring • PostgreSQL and database administration • SELinux and host firewall configuration • Federal A&A, security assessments, and compliance experience **Compensation & Benefits** $100,000–$140,000 annually Medical, dental, vision • Life/disability insurance • 401(k) with match • PTO • Educational reimbursement • Pet insurance **Requirements** ✓ Must complete U.S. Government Public Trust background investigation ✓ Must obtain and maintain PIV card ✓ Work hours: 8:00–9:00 a.m. Pacific Time start
