**Principal Software Engineer | Data Science** **Position Summary** ExtraHop seeks a Principal Software Engineer to join our product development organization as a technical anchor on our NDR platform. You will drive the architecture and execution of complex, high-impact engineering initiatives, operate with significant autonomy, influence engineering direction across teams, and mentor engineers at multiple levels. **Key Responsibilities** • Design and maintain robust, high-performance software to deploy AI/ML models analyzing network traffic • Design and develop autonomous AI agent architectures and multi-agent workflows • Collaborate with data scientists, threat researchers, and cloud teams on high-performance services and pipelines • Drive engineering excellence through code reviews, design reviews, and establishing standards and best practices • Lead cross-functional technical initiatives and represent engineering to senior leadership • Contribute to product strategy through technical insight on roadmap and competitive differentiation • Provide technical mentorship fostering continuous learning and engineering discipline **Required Qualifications** • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) • 8+ years professional software engineering experience; 2+ years in Principal, Lead, or Staff capacity • Expert-level programming in Python and Go • Experience in machine learning, statistics, or quantitative discipline • Production AI/ML systems experience including model lifecycle management and monitoring • Expertise applying ML/data science to cybersecurity (anomaly detection, behavioral analysis, threat classification) • Advanced understanding of threat detection, intrusion prevention, and incident response **Preferred Qualifications** • Network telemetry and protocols knowledge • Cybersecurity domain experience • Threat actor techniques and network attack vectors familiarity • AWS or Azure cloud services experience • Docker and Kubernetes production experience • Strong communication skills for technical and executive audiences **Compensation & Benefits** $175,000 - $198,000 + bonus + benefits Health/Dental/Vision • Flexible PTO • 401k Match • Educational Reimbursement • Hybrid/Remote Work
