We’re a certified B Corp, plastic-neutral, and on a mission to transform the CPG industry for good. ### About the Opportunity We’re looking for a senior engineer whose center of gravity is the **front end**, but who follows the problem wherever it goes—into an API, data model, third-party integration, or build pipeline. This is a **senior individual contributor** role. You’ll lead projects end to end (shaping the problem with product/design, making architectural calls, shipping, and measuring outcomes), but you won’t manage people or own org-wide technical strategy—you’ll be in the code. ### What You’ll Own - **Project leadership:** Lead front end and full stack initiatives from ambiguous problem statement to shipped, measured outcome. - **Architecture & tradeoffs:** Make architectural calls, sequence work, and keep the project honest about tradeoffs. - **Product & design partnership:** Work closely with product managers and designers; bring opinions about the experience. - **Craft, performance, and quality:** Own performance, stability, accessibility, and maintainability at the scale Grove runs. - **Ecosystem integration:** Partner across third-party ecosystem (mobile apps, subscription services, analytics, search/discovery, loyalty) to deliver a unified product experience. - **AI-assisted development:** Use AI tooling aggressively as a force multiplier while maintaining quality standards. - **Design system:** Partner with UX Design to define and scale the design system and UI component library. - **Measurement:** Ensure tracking exists to validate whether what you shipped actually worked. - **Best practices:** Champion testing, documentation, and workflows the team can build on. ### About You - **7+ years** building and operating production web applications, with the front end as your strongest area. - Deep expertise in **JavaScript/TypeScript** and at least one modern component framework (React/Vue/Svelte or similar). - Strong state management and **performance optimization** for consumer-facing apps. - Comfortable across the stack: **APIs, data models, integrations, CI, browser, and infrastructure**. - Thrives in unfamiliar territory—can get productive fast and make good calls. - Leads projects (not just tickets): takes vague ideas to concrete outcomes and ships. - Thinks like a designer/product partner: notices confusing flows, pushes back on specs that don’t fit the customer. - Communicates clearly and keeps decisions legible for future maintainers. - Genuine enthusiasm for Grove’s mission and sustainability values. ### How We Think About AI AI tooling is part of how the team works every day. We want someone who: - Enjoys using AI and keeps improving with it - Maintains independent judgment - Can read model output, disagree when needed, and explain *why* - Ships faster **without lowering standards** ### Even Better If You Have - **Shopify experience** (Liquid, Online Store 2.0: sections/metaobjects/metafields, Storefront & Cart APIs, Checkout Extensions) - Ecommerce experience with **high SKU count** and **high-velocity traffic** - Subscription commerce experience (billing/scheduling/customer expectations) - **GraphQL**; **Alpine.js** is a plus - Te
