**Staff, Software Engineer - Simulation Vehicle Modeling** **About the Company** Torc is a leader in autonomous driving since 2007, now part of the Daimler family. We're focused on developing software for automated trucks to transform how the world moves freight. **The Team** Our simulation teams build the foundation for AV 3.0 driver-out development and certification. This team serves as the critical technical interface between simulation/modeling and autonomy consumers, supporting massive-scale parallel execution for V&V and reinforcement learning training. **Key Responsibilities** • Own and evolve technical architecture for scalable vehicle modeling and simulation • Develop high-fidelity truck and vehicle dynamics models (longitudinal, lateral, transient behavior) • Define statistical validation metrics supporting Safety Case claims • Design and scale robustness testing frameworks for autonomy software • Design and maintain high-fidelity simulation platforms for closed-loop evaluation • Partner with autonomy teams to capture and implement vehicle model requirements • Execute full software development lifecycle in C++ within Linux/ROS environments • Perform root cause analysis on complex simulation and hardware-in-the-loop issues • Mentor engineers and help raise the bar on code quality and testing rigor **Required Qualifications** • Bachelor's in CS, Robotics, ME, EE, or related field + 10+ years experience (or Master's + 7+ years, or PhD + 3+ years) • Deep proficiency in C++, Python, ROS/ROS2, CMake, and Linux • Strong background in physics-based vehicle modeling and dynamics • Working knowledge of AV autonomy stack architecture • Experience with statistical validation metrics and robustness testing frameworks • Track record of driving technical consensus across teams **Bonus Skills** • Experience leading vehicle simulation sub-teams • High-fidelity truck & trailer modeling experience • Closed-loop autonomous vehicle simulation at scale • Scenario-based validation and sim-to-real correlation **Compensation & Benefits** US Pay Range: $186,200 – $223,400 USD • Competitive compensation with bonus and stock options • 100% paid medical, dental, and vision premiums • 401K with 6% employer match • Flexible schedule and generous paid vacation • AD&D and Life Insurance **Job ID:** R-102979
