**Software Engineer, Data Infrastructure** **About the Role:** Join Cohere's Data Infrastructure team to build the distributed storage system that powers enterprise AI model training at petabyte scale. You'll design and operate the unified storage layer feeding thousands of GPUs across multiple training clusters. **Key Responsibilities:** • Design, build, and operate distributed storage systems for model training and evaluation • Run stateful systems on Kubernetes clusters at petabyte scale • Collaborate with researchers and training teams to define throughput, latency, and durability requirements • Solve networking, I/O, and consistency challenges for large-scale data movement across regions **Required Experience:** • Strong storage fundamentals (replication, consistency, caching, data lifecycle management) • Strong coding ability in Python and/or Go • Experience running stateful systems on Kubernetes (Persistent Volumes, CSI drivers, StatefulSets) • Hands-on experience with cloud object storage (S3) and POSIX filesystems **Bonus Skills:** • Experience with parallel/HPC filesystems (Weka, VAST, Lustre) • Familiarity with data-loading and checkpointing in large-scale model training • Understanding of model training and evaluation workflows **Why Cohere:** • 6 weeks paid vacation (30 working days) • Full health, dental, and mental health benefits • 100% parental leave top-up for up to 6 months • $75/£75 weekly lunch stipend • $500 home office stipend • Remote-friendly with offices in Toronto, London, NYC, San Francisco, Montreal, Paris, Berlin, and Seoul • Education and learning stipend for professional development **About Cohere:** Leading security-first enterprise AI company building cutting-edge foundation models and end-to-end products for real-world business problems.
