**Backup Recovery Engineer** **About the Role** The Backup Recovery Engineer will manage backup and recovery processes, ensure data integrity, and troubleshoot backup issues. You’ll implement and maintain backup procedures, support disaster recovery and COOP planning, and perform daily backup system management—monitoring job completions and resolving failures. You will also conduct regular backup verifications and test restores to ensure data is recoverable. You’ll manage tape rotations (if applicable) and off-site storage of backup media, assist with capacity planning for backup infrastructure, implement data retention policies, and manage backup schedules to minimize impact on production systems. You’ll collaborate with system administrators and database administrators to ensure critical data is properly backed up, participate in disaster recovery exercises, document recovery procedures, and help continuously improve backup and recovery processes. **What You’ll Do** - Manage backup and recovery processes; troubleshoot backup issues - Monitor backup job completions and resolve backup failures - Perform regular backup verifications and test restores - Manage tape rotations and off-site storage of backup media (if applicable) - Assist with capacity planning for backup infrastructure - Implement data retention policies and optimize backup schedules - Coordinate with system and database administrators to ensure critical data is backed up - Participate in disaster recovery exercises and document recovery procedures - Stay current on backup/recovery technologies and best practices - Support integration of backup/recovery with broader IT service management frameworks **Here’s What You Need** - Bachelor’s degree (or 4 additional years of experience) in IT, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Software Engineering, or related field - At least 4 years of experience implementing and managing backup/recovery in enterprise IT **Security Requirements** - Active Secret, Top Secret, TS/SCI, or TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance required (depending on position) **Pay Range (where applicable)** - **$78,600 – $160,200 USD** *Note: Compensation and benefits vary based on factors such as location, role, skill set, and level of experience.*
