**Design Engineer, UX Product** **About the Role** Roku is seeking a Design Engineer to build and own the technical foundation powering AI-assisted design workflows across the UX team. You'll serve as the platform owner for design processes—from research and discovery through concept exploration, design review, prototyping, and post-launch measurement. **Key Responsibilities** • Own the technical platform for AI-assisted design workflows and act as primary liaison between UX and engineering • Build and maintain integrations connecting AI tooling to designers' existing systems • Establish secure, compliant patterns for designer-built tools and prototypes handling real product data • Own hosting and deployment infrastructure for designer-built prototypes, micro-apps, and tools • Develop and maintain shared libraries of AI tools, workflows, reusable assistants, and UI components • Support designers building AI-assisted prototypes and troubleshoot technical issues • Map workflow stages and ensure outputs are structured for measurement and improvement **Required Experience** • Hybrid design/engineering background with ability to bridge both disciplines • Proficiency in web technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern frameworks (React, Vue, Next.js) • Experience building AI application tooling (MCP servers, custom agents, evaluation harnesses) • Systems thinking across tool chains and workflow composition • Hosting, deployment, and CI/CD pipeline experience (GitLab Pages, AWS, etc.) • API integration and secure credential handling with real data • Security and compliance knowledge for web applications • Strong design sensibility—can read Figma fluently and participate in design critiques • Excellent communication skills collaborating with designers and engineers **Preferred Skills** • Experience with AI-assisted development tools (Cursor, Figma Make, Claude, v0) • Familiarity with shared tooling and component libraries • Degree in Computer Science, Design Engineering, HCI, or equivalent experience **Compensation & Benefits** *California: $200,000–$220,000 annually* Health insurance, equity awards, life insurance, disability benefits, parental leave, wellness benefits, and PTO.
