**Senior Software Engineer - Commercial Navigation** **Who we are** Samsara (NYSE: IOT) is the pioneer of the Connected Operations™ Cloud—helping organizations that depend on physical operations use IoT data to create actionable insights and improve safety, efficiency, and sustainability. **About this role** Commercial Navigation helps fleets turn planned work into guided trips that are safe, efficient, and visible to the people running the operation. You’ll build navigation in the Samsara Driver app and supporting experiences such as mobile guidance on the road, session review for fleet managers, fuel-aware routing, and safety-focused improvements. This is a remote role for candidates residing in the US and Canada. Relocation assistance is not provided. **You should apply if:** - You want to impact the industries that run our world (real-world outcomes, including worker safety) - You’re a life-long learner - You believe customers are more than a number (customer interviews, collaboration with product/customer success, and metrics) - You’re a team player (independent ownership + cross-functional collaboration) **In this role, you will:** - **Own Features End to End:** Take navigation initiatives from design through production rollout, including post-launch quality, adoption, and customer impact. - **Deliver with High Engineering Standards:** Write maintainable, well-tested code; raise the bar in design/code review; improve observability, testing, and production reliability. Use modern development tools (including AI-assisted workflows) with sound judgment. - **Build Across the Product:** Ship across mobile, backend services, and web-driver navigation experiences (admin visibility, optimized routing, safety-focused capabilities). - **Turn Ambiguity into Action:** Clarify what you’re building and why; align on priorities; define success metrics; plan milestones; surface risks/tradeoffs early. - **Collaborate Cross-Functionally:** Work with engineers, product managers, designers, and partners in Maps, Telematics, and adjacent teams. - **Champion Samsara’s cultural principles** as we scale globally. **Minimum requirements:** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or equivalent practical experience) - 6+ years of experience - Proven experience shipping customer-facing software in production across multiple surfaces (mobile/web/backend), with depth in at least one - Comfortable using AI development tools with judgment in day-to-day engineering **Ideal candidate also has:** - Experience building mobile applications, including **React Native** (Samsara also uses **Swift** and **Kotlin** for native modules/in-cab experiences) - Experience shipping and maintaining features over several years (long-term ownership) - Domain expertise in logistics or industrial IoT; experience building mobile apps for drivers/field workers; familiarity with geospatial/mapping technologies **Annual Base Salary (range):** **$130,900 — $260,000 USD** **Total Rewards (high level):** Above-market total compensation (base + performance-based bonus/variable pay + equity for eligible roles), plus benefits such as a flexible remote model, professional development stipend, comprehensive health and parental leave plans. **Belonging & accommodations:** Samsara welcomes applicants regardless of background and provides reasonable accommodations during the recruiting process (email: **accessibleinterviewing@samsara.com**).
