**Software Engineer II - Robotics** **Location:** Pasadena, CA (Onsite) **About the Role:** Develop software for robotic platforms, motion-control systems, sensing systems, machine interfaces, test systems, and production support tools. Work hands-on with mechanical, electrical, controls, manufacturing, test, quality, and operations teams to build reliable robotic systems. **What You'll Do:** • Develop and maintain software for robotic systems, embedded interfaces, and control applications • Implement software for motion-control, sensing systems, and production support tools • Support full lifecycle: concept through implementation, simulation, hardware bring-up, integration, test, deployment, and troubleshooting • Partner with cross-functional teams to define requirements, interfaces, and verification approaches • Integrate software with motors, actuators, encoders, sensors, motion controllers, and robotic equipment • Troubleshoot across software, controls, electrical hardware, sensors, and production equipment • Support software quality through code reviews, version control, CI/CD, and automated testing • Communicate technical status, risks, and implementation plans to stakeholders **Required Qualifications:** • Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent experience • 2-5 years of professional software engineering experience (robotics, motion control, embedded systems, or complex technical products) • Strong proficiency in C++ and/or Python • Experience with ROS or ROS 2 (including real-time variants) • Hands-on hardware integration experience (motors, actuators, encoders, sensors, motion controllers, machine vision) • Real-time or embedded software experience with understanding of control loops and deterministic timing • Solid software engineering fundamentals (architecture, Git workflows, code reviews, CI/CD, testing, documentation) • Linux development experience • Ability to define requirements and deliver solutions in cross-functional hardware environments **Nice to Have:** • Motion planning, kinematics, dynamics, trajectory generation, or controls software • Real-time operating systems or safety-critical software experience • Spacecraft/industrial communication interfaces (CAN, SpaceWire, EtherCAT, etc.) • Simulation, digital twins, or hardware-in-the-loop testing • Aerospace, defense, space, or advanced manufacturing experience **Compensation:** • Base Salary: $108,000 – $135,000 USD • Total Compensation (base + equity): $118,000 – $152,600 USD • Equity grants, ESPP (15% discount), comprehensive benefits, paid time off, 401(k) match, and more **Note:** ITAR compliance required for US office positions. Must be US citizen, permanent resident, or eligible for required authorizations.
