**Principal Software Engineer - Semantic Views** **About the Role** Snowflake is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join the Semantic Views team. You'll design and develop the semantic modeling layer that translates semantic queries into optimized SQL, create architecture and design for the semantic layer roadmap, and ensure queries produce correct results at petabyte scale. **Key Responsibilities** • Design, develop, and support the semantic modeling layer for query translation • Create architecture and influence the semantic layer roadmap • Ensure semantic queries produce correct, high-performance results • Partner with Cortex and AI teams on natural-language and agent-driven analytics • Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar across the team • Ensure operational readiness and meet commitments on correctness, availability, and performance **Required Qualifications** • 15+ years of industry experience with large-scale data or systems software • Strong computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, complexity analysis) • Deep experience with: query compilation/optimization, database internals, semantic/metrics layers, or BI/analytics infrastructure • Strong grasp of SQL semantics and relational modeling • Fluency in Java or similar object-oriented language (preferred) • BS in Computer Science; Masters or PhD preferred **Why Join** Build an industry-leading Cloud Data and AI Platform, work on strategically important layers for BI and AI agents, solve challenging technical problems at scale, and join a world-class team of veterans and rising stars.
