**Senior Software Engineer, Data Platform & AI Enablement** **About Airwallex** Airwallex is a unified payments and financial platform for global businesses, empowering 250,000+ businesses worldwide with integrated solutions spanning business accounts, payments, spend management, treasury, and embedded finance. **Location**: Seattle --- **Role Overview** Platform Engineering is building Airwallex’s next-generation foundational infrastructure—moving beyond standard pipelines to create a high-performance, distributed ecosystem for real-time AI enablement and global financial data. We’re looking for “Engineers’ Engineers” who enjoy working deep in distributed systems internals, optimizing JVM performance, and implementing robust architectural patterns (e.g., Lakehouse and real-time data). --- **In this role, you will** - **Architect & Build**: Lead technical decision-making and custom development for core infrastructure components, from foundational storage to high-availability service layers. - **Systems Optimization**: Tune performance and systems internals (state management, checkpointing, exactly-once semantics) for millisecond-level accuracy at global scale. - **AI Infrastructure**: Develop and integrate the **Knowledge Platform** for AI-driven products via scalable vector indexing, agentic workflows, and real-time data streaming. - **Distributed Systems at Scale**: Own the full SDLC for high-performance distributed systems (batch + streaming) processing petabytes of data across 30+ global regions. - **Engineering Rigor**: Contribute to shared tooling, SDKs, and automation frameworks that improve company-wide engineering productivity. - **Mentorship**: Mentor mid-level engineers and drive delivery through design reviews and technical leadership. --- **You might be a great fit if you have** - **5+ years** building and operating large-scale distributed systems or infrastructure platforms. - Strong **first-principles** understanding of CS fundamentals (distributed systems, memory management, networking). - Proficiency in **Java, Kotlin, or Go**, with hands-on experience (or strong desire to deep-dive) into **Kafka, Flink, Spark, Kubernetes,** or **OLAP engines**. - A track record of **0→1 ownership** from design through production stability. - Curiosity and drive to explore **AI/ML infrastructure** and **real-time systems** for tangible business impact. --- **Applicant Safety Policy (Fraud & Third-Party Recruiters)** Airwallex will not ask for bank details, sensitive ID numbers (e.g., passport), or any form of payment during the application/interview process.
