## Principal ML & AI Engineer ### Role Overview Join the **Responsible AI Engineering** team within the **AI & Analytics Infrastructure** organization. You’ll help build **agentic AI infrastructure** and the **governance** around it—partnering across **security**, **OSS compliance**, and **AI governance** to deliver reliable, secure, and cost-efficient AI-enabled products. This is a **hands-on principal engineering** role where you will: - Own the **MLOps foundation** behind a shared AI platform (paved road to production) - Build **repeatable delivery pipelines** and **infrastructure automation** - Drive **model and prompt lifecycle management**, **production serving**, **observability**, **evaluation**, and **cost-efficient operations** - Set technical direction, write production code and **infrastructure-as-code**, and establish operational standards - Embed with consuming teams to move AI workloads from prototype to dependable production services ### Key Responsibilities - Lead technical direction for enterprise **MLOps / AI platform** capabilities - Build and operate systems end-to-end (design → production operations) - Develop tooling and guardrails for teams adopting AI across their pipelines and serving stacks - Partner with platform architecture and teams across **security, identity, data, and applications** in a security-sensitive environment ### Required Qualifications - Extensive experience building and operating **production MLOps** or **AI platform** capabilities in an enterprise environment - Strong software engineering skills, especially **Python**, with proven ownership from design through operations - Deep experience with **CI/CD**, **GitOps**, **infrastructure-as-code**, containerized workloads, and automated environment promotion - Strong **AWS-native** experience, including **Bedrock**, **EC2**, **IAM**, load balancing, networking, and secrets management - Experience with **Kubernetes** and **Terraform** (or equivalent) - Production model-serving experience: endpoint management, autoscaling, resilience, rollout/rollback, performance testing, and capacity planning - Observability/SRE depth: metrics, dashboards, alerting, distributed tracing, audit logging, SLOs, incident response, and root-cause analysis - Experience with versioning and governance for models/prompts/datasets/artifacts (registries, lineage, reproducibility, release governance) - Experience implementing automated **AI evaluation** and regression gates (quality, latency, reliability, cost) - Experience with **RAG pipelines** (embeddings, vector stores, ingestion, indexing, data freshness) - Understanding of multi-tenant isolation, identity/secrets integration, policy enforcement, and cost attribution ### Principal-Level Leadership - Set direction across teams, simplify ambiguous problems, mentor engineers, and influence architecture without relying on authority - Strong customer-facing instincts: run discovery, explain trade-offs to technical and executive audiences, and earn trust in security-sensitive organizations ### Compensation & Benefits - **Expected base salary range:** **$195,000 – $210,000** per year - **Bonus:** eligible for an annual performance bonus (subject to company and individual performance) - **Benefits (US-based):** Medical/Dental/Vision insurance, retirement savings plans, paid time off & leave policies ### Additional Notes - Background verification required as part of the employment process - HERE is an equal opportunity emp
