**Backend Services Programmer Intern** **About the Role** Join Epic Games' Online Game Services team to build backend systems powering Fortnite. You'll own a feature as part of the development cycle, working on systems for tournaments, player cosmetics, and world persistence while collaborating with experienced engineers. **What You'll Do** • Contribute to backend systems powering Fortnite experiences • Learn about security, scalability, and maintainability • Collaborate with highly experienced engineers • Work with product owners to build features for upcoming Fortnite seasons **What We're Looking For** • Proficiency in Java or similar object-oriented programming language • Experience with AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., Claude) • Strong communication skills in remote-first environments • Willingness to learn from feedback and ask questions • Foundational analytical and problem-solving skills • *Preferred:* AWS or cloud technology experience • *Preferred:* Familiarity with *nix-based systems **Details** Flexible start date in 2027.
