**Senior Systems Analyst — Hudl** **About the role** Hudl’s FinOps practice ensures cloud and software spend is understood, accountable, and used as efficiently as possible. As a Senior Systems Analyst, you’ll own the cost picture end to end—allocating spend to the services and teams driving it, forecasting where it’s headed, and consulting across teams to propose changes that maximize efficiency. You’ll be the trusted source of truth for product and leadership on real cost and what’s on the roadmap. **You’ll be responsible for** - **Forecast and get ahead of cost:** Own models that track, allocate, and predict cloud/software spend; monitor AWS and the stack for anomalies and act quickly; build guardrails to prevent repeat issues. - **Turn spend into decisions leadership can act on:** Maintain a chargeback model tying spend to services, squads, or contracts; partner with Accounting and FP&A to keep numbers aligned; serve as the “single pane of glass” for cost questions. - **Automate anything worth doing twice:** Use **Python**, **GitHub Actions**, and **AWS Lambda** to reduce manual work; manage **AWS Reservations** and **Savings Plans**; use **SQL** and **DBT** with the data warehouse. - **Find the work, then drive it home:** Identify cost/efficiency opportunities, shape them into formal pitches, and drive approved changes through engineering, product, finance, and accounting. **Location** Regular in-office collaboration with Hudlies. Priority for applicants within commuting distance of **Lincoln or Omaha, Nebraska**. Expect **more in-office days than remote**, with flexibility to coordinate your in-office schedule with your team. **Must-haves** - **5+ years** in data analysis, budgeting, and forecasting (Cloud FinOps context strongly preferred) - **Automation/scripting:** **5+ years** using code to eliminate manual work; strong **Python** and comfort with **SQL** - **Deep AWS knowledge:** hands-on experience with AWS pricing/cost models and committed-use strategies (e.g., **Reserved Instances**, **Savings Plans**) - **Comfort with ambiguity:** research undefined problems, define a path forward, and deliver using **Scrum/Kanban** in **Jira** - **Strong communication & cross-team influence:** explain complex analysis to Directors/VPs and engineers; build relationships and cross-train - **AI-forward mindset:** use AI to make yourself and others faster/sharper (Claude ecosystem experience is a plus) **Nice-to-haves** - Experience with **CloudZero**, **Terraform (via Spacelift)**, **GitHub Actions** or **AWS Lambda**, **SQL**, **DBT**, **Python**, and using APIs for data sourcing/management - **FinOps credentials:** **FinOps Certified Practitioner (FOCP)** or hands-on FinOps best practices - **Software engineering background:** foundational experience building solutions (not just analyzing) **Compensation** Base salary range: **$82,000 — $137,000 USD** (starting salaries typically fall near the middle of the range).
