Visit: www.bcap.com **About the Role** Bertram is seeking an innovative and highly adaptable **Forward Deployed AI Engineer** to work directly with portfolio companies. You will identify and prototype AI workflow solutions, partnering closely with the investment team and collaborating with non-technical stakeholders to solve business challenges using artificial intelligence. You will build lightweight, functional AI prototypes that can be handed off to a core engineering team to scale and deploy. The ideal candidate has a strong engineering mindset, a genuine interest in business and investing, and a love for tinkering with the latest AI tools. **Responsibilities** - **Workflow Identification:** Partner with non-tech portfolio companies to identify operational bottlenecks and ideate high-impact AI workflow solutions. - **AI Prototyping:** Rapidly build, test, and iterate on AI prototypes and proof-of-concepts using Large Language Models and other emerging AI technologies. - **Cross-Functional Handoff:** Package successful prototypes and define clear technical requirements for engineering teams to scale and deploy. - **Business Integration:** Ensure solutions drive tangible ROI and operational efficiency for portfolio companies. - **Cross-Functional Collaboration:** Work with management teams to drive AI adoption and collaborate with Bertram Labs to build internal tools. **Requirements** - **0–2 years** of professional experience (new graduates encouraged). - **BS or MS** degree; an engineering degree is highly preferred. - Strong engineering mindset with demonstrated interest in business, operations, and investing. - Highly comfortable with AI technologies; a natural tinkerer who stays up-to-date with generative AI. - Exceptional communication skills—able to explain technical concepts to non-technical business leaders. - Experience working cross-functionally and collaboratively. **Compensation & Benefits** - Expected salary range: **$140,000–$160,000** total annual compensation (base may vary based on skills, experience, and qualifications).
