**IT Infrastructure & Cloud Engineer (Full-time, Permanent)** **Location:** Boulder, Colorado (Onsite) **Department:** Information Technology **Experience:** Bachelor’s in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field + 8–12 years relevant experience --- ## Position Summary Watchmaker Genomics is seeking an **IT Infrastructure & Cloud Engineer** for an onsite role in **Boulder, Colorado**. Reporting to the **Director IT (Boulder site)**, you will be responsible for hands-on execution and maintenance of Watchmaker’s **network** and **Azure cloud infrastructure** at the Boulder site. You will work closely with a global Infrastructure & Cloud Lead in **Cape Town, South Africa**, who sets global architecture standards and technical direction. You will translate that direction into local implementation, and feed site-level needs and constraints back into global design decisions. Windows and macOS endpoint management is owned day-to-day by the **End User Compute (EUC) Engineer**. This role partners on compliance standards and infrastructure-level policy, but is **not** expected to carry endpoint administration as a primary workload. --- ## Core Responsibilities - **Azure Cloud & Identity Infrastructure:** Build, administer, and maintain Azure infrastructure and services; administer identity/authentication/access management in **Microsoft Entra**, including conditional access, MFA, and joiner/mover/leaver processes. **[Critical requirement]** - **Network Infrastructure:** Design, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot network infrastructure (switching, wireless, firewalls, VPNs, load balancing). **Advanced hands-on network engineering is a core pillar. [Critical requirement]** - **System Design & Architecture:** Implement complex IT infrastructure (servers, storage, networks, cloud services) aligned to global architecture standards. - **Security & Cyber Security Protection:** Operate security systems across endpoints and cloud workloads; monitor, triage, and respond to security alerts; execute patch and vulnerability management using **Microsoft Defender**. - **Endpoint Management (Collaborative):** Partner with the EUC Engineer on Windows/macOS compliance, configuration baselines, and application deployment standards (day-to-day enrollment/support is owned by EUC). - **System Administration & Maintenance:** Install/configure/maintain servers, virtual environments, and enterprise applications (including **Active Directory, DNS, DHCP**, and other core services). - **Performance Monitoring & Optimization:** Monitor server/network/storage/cloud performance; troubleshoot and optimize for stability, security, and efficiency. - **Automation & Scripting:** Develop and use automation tools/scripts (PowerShell, Python, Bash) to streamline operations. - **Computer Systems Validation:** Perform required Computer Systems Validation actions to support **ISO 13485**. - **Documentation & Operational Discipline:** Maintain accurate documentation and knowledge base articles; execute changes through formal change management; track/coordinate purchasing for infrastructure and network hardware. - **Risk Management & Escalation:** Proactively identify, communicate, and escalate risks, incidents, and capacity constraints to the Director IT (Boulder site). - **Technical Guidance & Teamwork:** Provide technical guidance to service desk staff on complex escalations; collaborate with cross-functional and global teams. ### Business Continuity, Disa
