**Saronic Technologies — Forward Deployed Engineer Intern (Summer 2027)** Saronic Technologies is revolutionizing autonomy at sea by building state-of-the-art solutions that enhance maritime operations through autonomous and intelligent platforms. As a **Forward Deployed Engineer Intern**, you’ll work on real-world problems that directly support the development of our **autonomous surface vessels (ASVs)**. You’ll gain hands-on experience in **software development, testing, and integration**, collaborating with experienced engineers to tackle complex challenges in **autonomy, sensor fusion, and real-time processing**. --- ### Responsibilities - Design, implement, and test software components for autonomous systems (navigation algorithms, sensor integration, communication protocols) - Collaborate to develop and optimize algorithms for real-time decision-making, path planning, and object detection - Assist in building testing frameworks and participate in **hardware-in-the-loop (HIL)** testing in simulated and real-world environments - Troubleshoot and resolve software, hardware, and networking issues during deployments - Contribute to technical documentation (design specs, user manuals, test plans) - Work with cross-functional teams (mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers) to ensure seamless software/hardware integration --- ### Qualifications - Currently enrolled in a **Bachelor’s or Master’s** program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, or a related field - Programming skills in **Python, C++, TypeScript, JavaScript, or Rust** - Basic understanding of robotics principles, autonomous systems, and sensor technologies - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment - Willingness to travel and spend time in the field testing and improving ASV systems in real-world maritime settings - **Full-time in-office presence (40 hours/week)** at headquarters in **Austin, TX**, **May–August 2027** --- ### Physical Demands (Summary) - Prolonged sitting and computer work - Occasional standing/walking within the office - Manual dexterity to operate office equipment - Occasional reaching/bending/stooping - Ability to lift/carry up to **20 lbs** occasionally --- ### Notes - **CCPA Notice**: https://saronic-assets-public.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/Saronic%20CCPA%20Notice%20for%20Candidates%20and%20California%20Employees.pdf - If based in the United States, the role may require access to **export-controlled information** or items requiring **“U.S. Person”** status. - Saronic is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to providing reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities.
