## Via — Senior Flutter Engineer Via is on a mission to create public transportation systems that provide far greater access to jobs, healthcare, and education. Our platform is the technology backbone for modern transit networks, transforming antiquated and siloed public transportation into smart, data-driven, efficient digital networks. ### Role As a **Senior Flutter Engineer** on the rider mobile team, you’ll own the mobile experience that millions of riders depend on every day—from booking rides and managing accounts to the underlying mobile infrastructure that makes it all work seamlessly. You’ll work across **native Android and iOS** and our **cross-platform Flutter** codebase, collaborating closely with designers, backend engineers, and product managers. **Hybrid:** Expect to be onsite in **NYC 2–3 days/week**. ### What you’ll do - Collaborate with designers, backend engineers, and product managers to deliver a high-quality, user-friendly rider application - Own and continuously improve Via’s rider mobile apps across platforms—building new features across booking, account management, and the core rider journey while keeping the experience fast, reliable, and intuitive - Work primarily in **Flutter**, contributing to native Android (Kotlin) and iOS (Swift) codebases when needed; make pragmatic decisions about cross-platform vs. native - Architect and evolve the mobile infrastructure services that power Via’s apps, including app architecture patterns, performance optimization, and memory management - Diagnose and resolve critical production issues under pressure, minimizing disruption to riders - Mentor and guide engineers through thoughtful code reviews and sharing expertise across platforms ### About you - **5+ years** of mobile development experience; strong hands-on cross-platform experience (**Flutter is a strong advantage**) plus solid native experience in **Android (Kotlin)** or **iOS (Swift)** - Comfortable working across cross-platform and native codebases, with good judgment on when to use each - Strong grasp of mobile app architecture, performance optimization, and concurrent programming (e.g., Kotlin Coroutines, Swift async/await, Dart async patterns) - Experience with mobile frameworks such as **Location Services** and **Google Maps API**, and familiarity with mapping tools like **Mapbox** - A natural collaborator and mentor who takes ownership and shares knowledge - Proactive and curious about new technologies—bringing energy and ideas to the team ### Compensation & Benefits (US only) - Final salary determined by experience, knowledge, and skills (salary excludes equity/variable pay where applicable) - **Salary Range:** **$160,000 – $200,000** - Benefits include free medical plans, **401K matching**, catered lunch on Wednesdays, and other perks Via is an equal opportunity employer.
