**Summer 2027 Data Science Intern** **Location:** Herndon, VA or Blacksburg, VA **Duration:** 10 weeks (June - August) | 35-40 hours/week **About the Role:** Join Peraton's Strategic Innovation Centers to support advanced research in communications, space, cybersecurity, defense, public safety, and health. Work in an Agile environment developing data science models, cleaning data, building feature sets, and deploying solutions to production. **Required Qualifications:** • U.S. Citizenship • HS Diploma + advanced training • Progress toward bachelor's degree in Data Science, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field • Foundational experience: Python, R, Spark, SQL • Data cleansing and feature engineering experience • Hands-on experience with frameworks (TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, NumPy, PyTorch, Matplotlib, SHAP, or similar) • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Quick learner, self-motivated, detail-oriented team player • Strong written and oral communication **Desired Qualifications:** • 3.0+ GPA • Agile development experience • ETL and data quality pipeline development • Distributed compute experience (Spark, Kubernetes, Docker) • Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders • Self-management and collaborative communication skills **Compensation:** $25.00/hour+ **EEO:** Equal opportunity employer, including disability and protected veterans.
