We’re profitable, growing, and fully remote—high documentation, low meetings, and a culture focused on coaching and long-term engineering growth. --- ## What you’ll do - **Lead our new Prepaid Cards team** - Prepaid cards are one of Tremendous’s largest catalog categories, processing **millions of cards per year**. - Help expand into **new card types** and **new countries**. - **Grow your engineers** through 1:1s, thoughtful feedback, and coaching. - **Own technical quality** via code reviews, architecture decisions, and setting standards your team is proud of. - **Report to our Director of Engineering, Chloe**. ### How we manage at Tremendous - We coach **developmentally**, not reactively. - We address **patterns**, not one-off incidents. - You and your PM decide how your team works—if the process isn’t serving you, **change it**. - **Async-first** and default to writing things down. - Stable infrastructure: reliable systems, **rare incidents**, and **controlled tech debt**. --- ## What you’ll bring - **8+ years** of software engineering experience, including **2+ years** leading a team as a manager or tech lead. - **Great technical judgment**—consistently right on approaches and able to explain *why*. - **Strong communication skills** (including writing technical briefs and explaining concepts to cross-functional stakeholders). - **Solid product intuition**—a good sense of what to build and how to articulate product initiatives to engineers. - **Lead on AI adoption** - Use AI heavily in your own work and help your team do the same—**without lowering the bar on quality**. - “I used AI” is never an excuse for sloppiness. - **A magnet for talent** with high empathy—engineers and teammates love working with you. --- ## Our stack - Ruby on Rails - TypeScript + React - PostgreSQL - Google Cloud (Tech stack knowledge is a plus, but not required.) --- ## What’s cool about the role - **$5k/month budget for AI tools** (use it) - **Competitive pay + equity** - Base salary: **$250,000–$300,000** - **Fully remote** — work from anywhere in the Americas - **Great culture** — see our public handbook for how we work
