We're digitally transforming industries representing 40% of global GDP—agriculture, construction, field services, transportation, and manufacturing. **About the Role** We're seeking a Software Engineer with hands-on production experience building AI agents and automation tooling for customer support. You'll own the design, development, and scaling of AI-powered agents that automate support workflows and reduce agent workload. This is a remote role (US-based, excluding SF Bay Area, NYC Metro, and Washington D.C. Metro). **What You'll Do** • Design, build, and scale AI agents that automate support workflows • Own custom automation tooling used by the Support organization • Apply prompt engineering, context engineering, and RAG patterns to improve AI accuracy • Build integrations between AI agents, Zendesk, and internal knowledge systems • Partner with Support leadership to translate workflow gaps into production capabilities • Champion best practices in code quality, testing, CI/CD, and observability • Embed Samsara's cultural principles as we scale globally **Minimum Requirements** • Hands-on experience building AI agents or automation tooling in production support/operations environments • Proficiency in Python and/or JavaScript • Experience integrating with support platforms (e.g., Zendesk) via APIs • Experience with AI agentic frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex) or custom LLM-based systems • Proven ability to own end-to-end technical project delivery • Strong problem-solving and system design skills • BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience **Ideal Candidate Also Has** • Front-end framework experience (React, Vue, Angular) • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and AI/ML services • Knowledge of vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate) • Background in technical/customer support with transition to scaling tools • Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
