We support industries including agriculture, construction, field services, transportation, and manufacturing. ## About the role Samsara is seeking a **Senior Engineering Manager** to lead the **Test Infrastructure and Quality Engineering** organization. You’ll lead a multidisciplinary team (engineering managers, software engineers, and quality engineers) focused on preventing, detecting, and resolving regressions across the Connected Operations Cloud. Your organization will build and operate shared test platforms, frameworks, environments, data systems, and developer workflows—making high-quality testing accessible to every engineer. You’ll also enable Quality Engineering ICs with the tools, standards, and practices needed for automated and exploratory testing, failure investigation, and actionable quality signals. This role sits at the intersection of engineering productivity, product quality, and customer trust. You’ll establish quality strategy, define measurable regression-prevention and release-confidence standards, and partner with engineering and product leaders to embed quality earlier in the development process. ## You should apply if - You want to impact the industries that run the world (software, firmware, and hardware with real-world safety and operational outcomes). - You want to build for scale (millions of IoT devices deployed globally). - You’re a life-long learner with a growth mindset. - You believe customers are more than a number (close end-user connection, customer interviews, metrics-driven outcomes). - You’re a team player—working toward the connected operations vision together. ## In this role, you will - Lead and develop an organization responsible for **test infrastructure, automation, and product-quality validation**. - Define the **vision, strategy, and multi-year roadmap** for quality engineering and shared testing platforms. - Build **scalable, self-service test infrastructure** (frameworks, environments, test data, device/service simulators, CI/CD integrations). - Establish measurable quality outcomes (e.g., escaped-regression rates, automated coverage, reliability, time to signal, defect-detection effectiveness, release confidence). - Drive **shift-left quality** by improving system testability and integrating quality into architecture, development, code review, and continuous delivery. - Partner with product engineering to identify high-risk customer journeys, close coverage gaps, and prevent recurring regression classes. - Improve automated testing reliability by reducing flakiness, shortening feedback loops, and making failures easier to diagnose. - Ensure Quality Engineering ICs have tooling and operating mechanisms for exploratory testing, complex end-to-end validation, release qualification, and regression analysis. - Introduce intelligent/AI-assisted capabilities for test generation, failure classification, root-cause analysis, coverage identification, and quality insights. - Hire, coach, and develop inclusive, highly engaged, high-performing teams. - Champion and embed Samsara’s cultural principles as the organization scales. *Note: Samsara’s backend is written in **Golang**, runs on **AWS**, and is deployed using **Terraform** (direct
