Learn more at www.asteralabs.com **The Role** We're seeking a hands-on Tech Lead Automation Engineer to lead development of internal platforms that accelerate the company. You'll own systems automating access, tracking, and administrative workflows—deciding what gets built, building a meaningful share yourself, and setting technical direction as the footprint grows. This is a builder's role: you'll write code, design schemas, and ship features personally using AI coding platforms (Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) as core daily tools. **What You'll Do** • **Platform Ownership**: Take technical ownership of internal automation platforms end-to-end (architecture, data model, background sync/scheduling, roadmap) • **Full-Stack Features**: Design and ship backend services, role-based access control, approval workflows, and frontend UI • **System Integration**: Maintain and extend integrations with SaaS tools, cloud infrastructure, and identity services • **New System Development**: Build operational systems from scratch for asset tracking, entitlements, and visibility dashboards • **SG&A Automation**: Partner with IT, HR, and Finance to automate workflows (onboarding/offboarding, approvals, audit logging) • **Engineering Excellence**: Own database schema evolution, maintain test coverage, use AI tools as force multipliers, and set engineering standards **What We're Looking For** • BS/MS in Computer Science + 7+ years professional software engineering experience • End-to-end production web application ownership: Python/FastAPI backend, PostgreSQL/SQL, frontend work • Enterprise SaaS API integration experience (Atlassian, Microsoft 365, GitHub) and cloud infrastructure APIs • Identity & access management knowledge (RBAC, SSO/OAuth2, directory services) • Systems of record, inventory/asset-tracking, and dashboard design experience • Fluency with AI-assisted coding tools in daily workflow • Track record as hands-on technical lead who owns architecture and builds personally **Salary & Benefits** $135,000–$170,000 depending on experience, level, and business need. Eligible for discretionary bonus and benefits.
