**AI Software Intern (Winter/Spring 2027)** **About the Role:** Formlabs is seeking an AI Software Intern to apply machine learning and deep learning techniques to solve complex problems in additive manufacturing. You'll work on intelligent algorithms for automated part preparation, spatial data analysis, and monitoring systems that optimize manufacturing success. **Position Details:** • **Term:** Winter/Spring 2027 (January-April) • **Commitment:** Full-time (40 hours/week) • **Location:** Onsite in Somerville, MA • **Compensation:** $3,700–$4,500 USD bi-weekly **What You'll Do:** • Design and implement machine learning models for 3D spatial data and geometric analysis • Develop real-time computer vision pipelines for monitoring and defect detection • Optimize model architectures for fast, resource-efficient execution • Collaborate with software engineers to translate research into production prototypes **About You:** • Pursuing BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or related field • Deep proficiency in Python with hands-on ML/DL experience (PyTorch or TensorFlow) • Solid C++ knowledge and clean code principles • Experience with point clouds, meshes, voxel grids, or ML on physical systems • **Bonus:** Edge deployment optimization, Open3D, CGAL, or 3D geometry libraries **Application Requirements:** Resume and GitHub profile, portfolio, or technical project documentation **Benefits:** • Flexible time off • Bi-weekly pay • On-site parking & commuter benefits • Catered lunches (3x/week) • Intern cohort community • Culture events • Unlimited 3D prints **We encourage applications from all backgrounds.** Even if you don't check every box, we'd love to hear from you!
