**Engineering Manager, Client Platform Engineering** **About the Team** OpenAI's Client Platform Engineering (CPE) team delivers trusted devices at scale across macOS, Windows, iOS, Android, and Linux. The team owns endpoint posture, device trust, application delivery, onboarding, updates, telemetry, workflow orchestration, and employee-facing remediation. **About the Role** Lead a high-performing engineering team responsible for OpenAI's cross-platform client foundation strategy, delivery, and operations. This role combines people leadership with strong technical judgment at the intersection of security, reliability, developer velocity, and employee experience. **Key Responsibilities** • Lead and develop a high-performing engineering team with inclusive, high-accountability culture • Define and execute multi-year client-platform strategy across all supported platforms • Provide technical direction for endpoint posture, device trust, application delivery, and fleet operations • Guide architecture and engineering tradeoffs across services, tooling, and infrastructure • Establish clear goals, ownership, and execution rhythms for rapid, quality delivery • Raise the bar for reliability and security through observability and staged rollouts • Partner across Security, IT, Research, Product, and specialized engineering teams • Balance security controls with developer velocity and employee experience • Use metrics to steer investment and communicate impact **Required Experience** • Built and led teams owning secure, reliable, mission-critical services at scale • Delivered internal platforms improving reliability, security, and employee experience • Made sound software and infrastructure engineering decisions at scale • Raised production readiness through technical review of architecture and operations • Operated infrastructure with material security or identity risk • Committed to on-call rotation after ramp-up • Built inclusive teams with clear communication and cross-functional influence **Preferred Experience** • Deep experience with client-platform tools (Jamf, Intune, Android Enterprise, FleetDM, etc.) • Experience building internal platforms for app delivery, device posture, or fleet telemetry • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, Terraform, Kubernetes, and observability • Experience in high-assurance environments with security and compliance teams • Open-source contributions or cross-company technical standards work **Location** San Francisco, CA (relocation assistance available) **About OpenAI** OpenAI is an AI research and deployment company dedicated to ensuring general-purpose AI benefits all of humanity.
